From the outside looking in...

I am so excited to be starting Spoon Full of Sugar...my new cake and sugar art blog. It's an extension of my family blog. From my childhood, I can remember my mother making my 8th birthday cake. It was a princess doll cake and the icing on the skirt was green with a white bodice on a Barbie Doll. And while my mother wasn't a fancy cake decorator...it meant the world to me because that was my cake. It was made for me to make me feel special. Life is simply better when enjoyed with friends and family. Cake tends to bring those we love all together. It seems to be a common denominator of happiness and celebration. Think about major moments in our lives: Birthdays, Graduations, Weddings, Babies...all enjoyed and commemorated with cake. I have discovered a true joy in designing and decorating cakes. It allows me to have a glimpse into the days that others find most special. There is nothing better than to see a smile of a birthday girl...her face lighting up as she sees her favorite colors come to life. Words don't do justice when a mother-to-be sees her baby shower cake and is reminded that her baby is loved already. And of course...is there anything more magical than a Bride and Groom? To be a small part in the happiest day of someones' life is nothing short of a gift to me! So I will be updating, blogging, brainstorming about my cakes in this space where I can be creative. I am so glad that you've come to spend a little time with me and enjoy the sweeter side of life. Because, after all...isn't life just better with cake?
